Daufuskie Friends:

Daufuskie Island resident and artist CHASE ALLEN is competing to win an "American Made" contest sponsored by the Martha Stewart magazine, and is particularly well-positioned to win the 2014 Audience Choice Award Winner. As of this morning, he has moved into 1st Place!!!

This is a true David and Goliath story….Imagine a business from tiny Daufuskie beating out thousands of other companies around the country for this prestigious award!!

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT THAT CHASE WINS THIS AWARD

Chase deserves this award on merit alone, as anyone who has visited the IRON FISH GALLERY will agree. More importantly, though, Chase intends to donate the entire $10,000 award to very worthwhile causes, with the majority of it going to help pay the medical bills of sweet 6-year old Holmes Desmelik who is battling a brain tumor.

The remaining $3,000 will be distributed to three great causes: Doctors Without Borders, the Alzheimer’s Foundation, and the Ankylosing Spondylitis Association.

If Chase wins this competition, it will provide a major boost for the family of little Holmes, and help several worthwhile organizations. It also will bring much needed attention to Daufuskie Island, and really help put our little island on the map. WHY ALL DAUFUSKIE ISLAND FOLKS ARE NEEDED TO HELP OUT

This contest is very, very close! There are 4000 contenders around the country. Other leading businesses from much larger areas than tiny Daufuskie are aggressively seeking votes, and the lead has switched back and forth a number of times. To win, Chase needs a strong and sustained group effort by the entire Daufuskie community!!
