News from the Front Porch
Dear Front Porch Readers,
Please note the following:
From the Daufuksie Island Conservancy:
The Daufuskie Island Conservancy Presents
Shrimping on the “Tammy Jane”
Monday, November 12, 2012
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks
1 Hudson Road off of Squire Pope Road, Hilton Head
Open to the first 25 with paid reservations
DIC members: $40 Non-members: $65.00
While we’re underway to the trawling grounds, learn about the estuary around us and
the shells and sponges in our local waters. When we reach the trawling grounds, the
nets will be deployed. Our captain will tell us about the physics and theory of the net
system, the history of shrimping, the shrimp’s life cycle and a day in the life of a
shrimper. The nets will then be pulled aboard and we will learn about what we’ve
caught! FYI, if shrimp are caught, they will be shared with us!!
Allow 3 hours for this very special event. Afterwards, stay for lunch at Hudson’s if
you’d like.
For additional information or questions, please contact Yvonne Clemons at
yclemons@columbus.rr.com or 843-785-7490. Checks to the Daufuskie Island
Conservancy or cash for reservation payment should be put in the Haig Point Mansion
cubby of Yvonne Clemons.
