This is not a meeting, but an informal gathering and an opportunity to meet current, out-going and present nominees. It is your time to discuss with them your comments, concerns and/or questions regarding our beautiful island. Spread the word and get involved... we need you! A candidate forum will be held on February 4, 2012 at the Mary Fields School at 9:30 AM. This forum will enable candidates to discuss their positions and allow residents to ask questions. If you are unable to attend the day of the vote, proxy ballots can be submitted to Mr. Chris Hutton at P.O. Box 51, Daufuskie Island S.C. 29915. For ballot copies go to www.daufuskieislandcouncil.com. Ballots must be received by 3:00 PM on February 11. All proxies must be submitted with a copy of a a verification document. Valid verification documents are: local voter registration card, current property tax document, local driver's license, Palmetto Breeze ID. ******************************** To Daufuskie Island Voters: My name is Patrick Ford. For those of you who don’t know me, I am the General Manager of the Bloody Point Golf Club and I am running for the Daufuskie Island Council. I have been working on the island for over 7 years and lived on Daufuskie with my wife for 6 years. As I have been extremely busy bringing Bloody Point back to life, I missed the cut off date for the ballot printing. Because of this, my name will not appear on the ballot, but I am asking for your vote as a write in candidate. I have the island's best interests at heart, am an effective manager and know that I would be a great addition to the Daufuskie Island Council. We will host a candidate “meet and greet" at the Eagle's Nest Restaurant on January 29th and I look forward to answering all of your questions.
